Cozy Recipe Box (mycozy.kitchen) is a small, invitation-only recipe site run for one family and the friends and relatives they invite. This page says what it keeps about you and why. In short: only what it needs to run your recipe box, and it never sells or shares it for advertising.
What we keep
- Your account: username, the name you go by, a scrambled (hashed) password, and when you last signed in.
- Your email address, if you add one: used only to confirm it's yours and to send you a password reset link when you ask for one.
- If you sign in with Google: your Google account's id, name and email address, so we know which Recipe Box account is yours. We don't get your Google password, contacts, files or anything else.
- What you put in: recipes, photos, notes, pantry items, grocery lists and meal plans. They belong to your kitchen, and only people in your kitchen can see them, unless you choose to share a recipe with everyone on the site, or share a collection by link. A shared collection's link shows only the recipes in it (not your notes, hearts or anything else), works for anyone you send it to, and stops working when you turn it off.
- Sign-in safety: a short-lived record of wrong-password attempts and the internet address they came from, so we can slow down anyone guessing passwords. These records are deleted after 15 minutes.
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Who helps run it
- Render hosts the site and stores its database and photos.
- Cloudflare sits in front of the site to keep it fast and safe.
- Resend delivers our emails (confirmation and password reset links).
- Google handles "Sign in with Google" when you use it.
- Anthropic reads handwritten notebook pages, only if a kitchen turns on handwriting reading for its reMarkable tablet.
When you import a recipe from a website, the site fetches that page (or an archived copy from the Internet Archive) on your behalf. Your account details aren't sent with it.
Your choices
- You can change your name and email, or unlink Google, any time on Settings → My account.
- You can delete your account there too. If you're the last person in your kitchen, its recipes, photos and lists are deleted with it.
- The server keeps daily safety copies of the database for 14 days, so deleted things fully disappear after that.
Questions
Ask the person who invited you to the Recipe Box. They run it and can help with anything about your data.
